PODCAST: Mission Community Market

This week, media-involved students David Vileta and Liza Fisher find the food, company, and story they were looking for to use in their audio production 1 class.  Walking through The Mission District, the two were unsure about what where to spend their time and energy looking for a story, when they walked into Old Jerusalem, a restaurant on 26th St. and Mission St.  Fisher, who attended Birthright last summer, felt the restaurant had a familiar feeling of home, serving the delicious food of Jerusalem. With the environment ever changing in The Mission, Vileta and Fisher wanted details about the tech community moving in and taking over. Sarah Frei, sophomore Media Studies major, ventured into the Mission on Bartlett and 22nd mid semester for her Audio Production class.  Fueled by a passion for food and community, she looked for a place that incorporated both within the district.  On Bartlett and 22nd, she found Mission Community Market. PODCAST: FADE

This semester, The Foghorn is happy to continue featuring pieces from Beth Hoffman’s Audio Production class! Each issue, we will be highlighting students who have completed and shared their exceptional work.

Luna Farina, a sophomore media major, has adapted a short story by Rachel Ebersole, who attends Bates College in Maine. Having have read the story before, Farina had finally found a way to creatively utilize Ebersole’s piece. Titled Fade, the story delves into a girl who was considered different from others.  Although embracing it in her younger years, growing up forced her to lose herself.
