Among walls covered in picture frames and shelves overflow- ing with records I met Mark McCloud, the curator of this virtual time machine known colloquially as San Francisco’s LSD museum. FOOD REVIEW: A GREEK TRIES SOUVLA

Growing up, there was only one item I would faith- fully order from my grandfather’s Greek restaurant – a lamb gyro (pronounced yee-ro in Greek) with extra feta cheese and a side of french fries. Earlier this summer I discovered the newest addition to Hayes Valley. While walking down Hayes Street one day, I spotted two little olive trees surrounding the door frame luring me in with the scent of oregano and thyme. The inauguration ceremony on Saturday of Rev. Paul J. Fitzgerald, S.J. wasn’t all formalities. One of Fitzgerald’s oldest friends and one of the ceremony’s distinguished guest speakers, Janet Napolitano, recalled attending college with the newly chosen president. “We even went to prom together,” Napolitano said as the audience erupted in laughter, before adding, “I have pictures.” Continue reading USF Warmly Welcomes the Rev. Professor Bryan Whaley’s New Book on Communication in Healthcare Goes Beyond Good Bedside Manner

USF Communication Studies Professor Bryan Whaley was in the oncology unit at the Children’s Hospital and Research Center Oakland back in 2004 with his then nine-year-old daughter, facing a situation he never thought possible. His daughter had been sick for weeks, and Whaley was told she might have colon cancer.
