On the final day of the Goodwin Invitational in Stanford the Dons put up the best numbers that they had all weekend, but it was not enough to elevate them to the podium. Out of 24 different teams the Dons ended up finishing in 18th place, junior Sebastian Crookall-Nixon led the Dons in individual rankings with his 24th place finish.
Although it was the Dons best day of the weekend their play did not allow them to move up in the rankings. They also started the day in 18th place so their performance was just good enough to let them keep that spot. Crookall-Nixon entered the day tied for sixteenth after a previous round of 72. He would shoot just one stroke more on the final day leaving him three over par and tied for 24th place. This is a disappointing result for Crookall-Nixon who began the tournament seated in third place after an impressive first day score of 65.
Next up on the leaderboards for the Dons was freshman Jalen Griffin who finished in 70th place after a final round of 70. His performance on the third day was much better than the one on the second. Griffin shot four over par the day before with a score of 70 leaving him in 82nd place. Luckily his round of 70 was enough to elevate him 12 spots in the standings.
After Griffin the next Don on the leaderboards appears in double digits. Mathias Wentjarvi finished in 112th after a final round of 73. Overall Wentjarvi finished +17 with a final tally of 227. Just behind Wentjarvi with a total tally of 231 was Emil Liljeroth. Liljeroth started the day seated in 102nd place but after a lackluster final round of 83 he slipped to 121st place.
Up next for the Dons will be the Wyoming Cowboy Classic which will be their final event before the WCC Championships begin. It will take place at Talking Stick Golf Course in Scottsdale, Arizona from April 13 to 15.
