This Friday, Sept. 25, USF will host the 5th Annual Critical Diversity Forum, titled “Stones of Hope: Non-Violent Action Built on Legacy and Imagination.” Guests include journalist and music critic Jeff Chang, performance artist Idris Ackamoor, and actor and film director Danny Glover.

The event, which will be held in the McLaren Complex from 12:45 to 4:45, was created by the Diversity Task Force to establish a definition of diversity, while also building relationships between USF and Bay Area communities. Now hosted by USF’s Critical Diversity Studies major, this year’s forum intends to discuss Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s non-violent philosophy, and how it can be applied to modern social issues.

The forum will begin with performances from USF Word! members Adam Hernandez and Kay Nilsson, and will conclude with Activist Sessions hosted by a variety of diversity experts. An itinerary of the day’s events can be found on the USF website at https://web.usfca.edu/artsci/cds/forum/.

Speakers from previous years include Jose Antonio Vargas (creator of the documentary “White People,” originally aired on MTV), and Rhodessa Jones (creative partner to Idris Ackamoor).
