On Thursday, Nov. 3, the San Francisco Police Department arrested 20-year old sophomore nursing student Sam Kerfoot on the USF campus. This was after they had obtained a warrant to enter and search his dorm room in Phelan. During the search, they seized his laptop and other electronic devices.
Kerfoot has been charged with multiple accounts of distribution of child pornography, and with possession of more than 600 pornographic photos of children, many of whom are under the age of 3. He was also charged with sending harmful matter to seduce a minor.
“If the alleged criminal acts are determined to be true, our community is saddened and deeply offended by this situation,” Anne-Marie Devine Tasto said in a press release on behalf of the University. As Kerfoot’s case is still under investigation, the University is unavailable for comment. SFPD was also unable to elaborate on the press release they sent following the student’s arrest. Once the Foghorn receives updates from either of these organizations regarding Kerfoot’s case, we will publish a full report on the information that we gather.
