On Wednesday April 3rd, H&M San Francisco launched their new conscious collection with a glamourous party hosted by “90210”’s Jessica Stroup. The conscious collection is a new party wear collection made from more sustainable materials, better benefiting the environment.

Stroup was wearing a lace high-low dress from the collection with cute cowboy inspired boots. Her character on the show, Silver, has inspired many girls to not be shy when it comes to fashion and expressing themselves. “My character silver would totally wear

this. She would totally match this with some crazy earrings or a belt.” SONY DSC

Since her character Silver is a hipster at heart, Stroup loves the fact that the fashion line supports the environment. “I think the collection is so smart. I think they’re the first fashion house to be able to do this. To be able to teach kids to sustain earth and save the environment. The clothes is beautiful, affordable, and conscious of our environment” she says.

If there are any differences with the new collection and other products at H&M, its that the line is very high-end and is a bit more costly. Stroup explains, “The style is more ‘LA’. It’s dressy and comfortable.” The inspiration for the new line was derived by old-hollywood glamour, channeling back to the Marilyn Monroe era where lace and grace played hand in hand. Stroup, though an admirer of classic Hollywood style, prefers the modern trend of mixing classic and modern pieces. “I like dressing in today’s Hollywood, since we have the resources to dress up like old hollywood if we want” she notes. “Plus we know what works and doesn’t work. I love vintage pieces so I feel like I can dress up with a old hollywood twist if I wanted.”

The conscious collection isn’t limited to women though, and there are great pieces for men. With such offerings as bow ties and slick vests, Stroup says “ A guy that today’s woman would want to be standing next to would be wearing this line.”

Stroup also offered some fashion tips for college students: “Don’t wear name brands on the front of your chest. I love a girl who can find and affordable piece and make it look great. I think it’s important to keep your body to yourself and not expose it too much.”

And on the last note she adds, “a spring fashion must would be lace: it’s subtle but sexy.”
